RCH prepared the Noise, Air Quality and GHG sections of the Ameresco RNG Initial Study. The project is located at the Forward Landfill in San Joaquin County, California. The project expands Ameresco’s existing Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE) infrastructure at the Forward Landfill by building a new facility to treat the landfill gas (i.e., remove impurities) to meet PG&E’s Rule 21 pipeline quality requirements for renewable natural gas (RNG) from landfill gas (LFG), and facilities to compress and transfer the RNG to Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E) natural gas pipelines for general use. The RNG plant expansion allows for continued beneficial reuse of LFG by producing RNG from the portion of LFG currently generated at the landfill that is not used in the LFGTE plant, and currently flared to the atmosphere without any beneficial reuse. RCH conducted short-term and long-term noise measurements, and wrote a noise technical report to support the project. RCH conducted air quality reports including estimates of emissions from the construction and operation of the project.
